Yes.  That file should be UTF-8-encoded, with a UTF-8 Byte Order Mark at
the beginning, but some recent changes de-UTF-8-ified it.  I undid the
parts of those changes that mangled non-ASCII names (or that apparently
inserted NUL characters into random places in the text).

If you're going to edit AUTHORS, please make sure your editor doesn't
"helpfully" convert UTF-8 to a local code page on Windows or to your
session's character encoding on UN*X - make sure, before you check in
changes, that the only changes are the ones you intended to make.
