BTW I think that at this point the API is preety much what it will be
(the will be additions (the gui tree) but no changes to what it is
already there.

The next step (for me) is to finish documentation (both the comments
in the code and the script to generate docbook and pod files from
them) and formalize the test suite (I got a disordered set of scripts
to test mosty parts).

Where/How Lua gets into the roadmap is a matter to discuss.

There are few things that should/must be done before release:

 MUST:  5.1 Final has been released, the windows binaries are 5.1 beta.
 MUST:  end the API reference so that some one else can use it.
 SHOULD: have a relatively complete test suite
 MIGHT: want to have it installed and disabled by default.
