I am using Ethereal with version 0.10.11-SVN-14962. I ran Ethereal to capture packets with the interface VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter : \Device\NPF_{588609BD-341C-482C-AC1C-E10E0545CC63}. After capturing around 7,500,000 packets Ethereal crashed because of low Virtual memory.

Is there memory leaks in this version of Ethereal? If yes, then are there patches available for this version or the newer versions have lesser memory leaks? How significant is the difference between memory leaks of version 0.10.11-SVN-14962 and newer version?

There has been major work done in this area since that time. I strongly suggest to try with the latest SVN version.
