dtap is used to have the mobile to "talk" to the MSC (to the SGSN
too?) and is normally encapsulated inside NBAP, RANAP, BSSAP in its
way to the Mobile or MSC.

So would a graph, similar to the one you had, plus an explanation of the various abbreviations, be a useful addition to

for the benefit of those not familiar with the mobile phone world (or should it just refer to the Wikipedia page for that? That page, and Wikipedia pages to which it refers, have a bunch of information not protocol-related, and doesn't seem to have a lot of stuff explaining what protocol layers there are).
