Ethereal supports the complete SS7/IP suite (SIGTRAN) and
some of the SS7 related upper layers.
Since the capturing is not done by ethereal but a separate
library (libpcap) is used it is currently not possible to
capture traffic on MTP devices. If you have traces, ethereal
might already be able to read or can be extended to do so.

What SS7 features are missing in ethereal?

Best regards
Michael

We would like to develop an telco style protocol analysis. Can ethereal or you help on this us or consult ?

I wouldn't be able to consult on this other than answering some
questions. I'm not very familiar with SS7; there are already dissectors
in Ethereal for at least some SS7 protocols (MTP2, MTP3, etc.),
developed by others - you might be able to get some help from others on
the ethereal-dev list, so I'm CCing this message to that list.
