Hi,
I was trying to compile the Ethereal 0.10.4 on a Windows 2000 sp4
machine using VC 6 sp6 using the instructions in README.win32.
The following line:
nmake -f makefile.nmake setup
doesn't work and generates the following error message:
Microsoft (R) Program Maintenance Utility Version 6.00.9782.0
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1988-1998. All rights reserved.
tools\win32-setup.sh: tools\win32-setup.sh: No such file or directory
NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'bash' : return code '0x7f'
Stop.
I believe that this is because the file win32-setup.sh in the tools
subdirectory is missing from from the source archives at
http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/. Neither the .tar.gz nor the
.tar.bz2 archives have this file.
I was able to go download that file off from the CVS web interface;
however, it should be included in the source archives if Windows users
are going to attempt to use the automated library download feature to
build Ethereal. Sorry if this email was a rehash; however, I couldn't
find any reference to this sort of problem in the list archives.
later,
