Yes, it's more about what mechanism is more common.

Would it make sense to change
"Directories" to "Environment"?  It might be useful to add other
information like the current user ID and environment variable values
that affect Ethereal.
Well, on win32 there's no real use of the user ID, so I don't have an opinion about this. Currently, I don't know of any environment variables used, could you give me some more info on this?

However, it will be only a cosmetical change without much effort, so we could change the name later again.

Also, should the extra information be added to
the "-v" output on the command line?
As the "-v" option is named as "Print the version and exit." in the manpage, is there any version related info?
