The situation is that I have Linux 2.4.22 (Slackware 9.1) running with two
3C509B (EtherLink III) interfaces. eth0 is my normal network connection
and I want to snoop on an external network through eth1 which does not
have an IP address assigned. This is ethereal 0.10.3

After my machine comes up and gets an IP address using DHCP, I execute
'ifconfig eth1 up' just to get the drivers running. When I go into
ethereal, it lists eth0, lo and the pseudo-device. It does not list eth1.
However, if I enter eth1, it works as expected.

Although requested to report this through the FAQ, my question is: Am I
doing this right?
