Repost on request of Jon Oberheide
"Thanks for the investigative work. I would suggest posting again to the
list and sending your sample dump. I'm sure someone on there will have
access to HP-UX and be able to help you.

Platform specific issue, HP-UX 11.11 only
=========================================
Yes You are right and I agree that this is a plattform specific issue.
Perhaps I named this not clear enough in my mails.
I ported ethereal 0.10.3 to Solaris9, HP-UX11.00 and HP-UX11.11 and all
these 3 machines are in the same subnet and see the same broadcast traffic.
The crash only ocurs on HP-UX 11.11.
As I loaded the sample-trace-file I sent to You, the same error message
appeared:
** ERROR **: file proto.c: line 1153 (proto_tree_add_ipv4): assertion
failed: (hfinfo->type == FT_IPv4)aborting...
ethereal: 29005 Abort(coredump)

Dear ladies and Sirs,
ethereal 0.9.16 works fine with HPX-UX 11.11 in my enviroment.
ethereal 0.10.3 core dumps under HPX-UX 11.11 when it starts to
decode packets.
