I was getting complaints from users about "When I am searching it wraps
around and I don't remember where I started from". This is just a
feature to inform the user that they have reached the end of the file
and the search is continuing back at the beginning. Adobe Acrobat and
most Office type applications notify the user when searches reach the
end of the file. I have even found myself wondering if the search even
worked when only one packet matched my search criteria. This way at
least I know that the search was performed.

What does the list think?
Optional setting?

Should that be done?

That's not a universal characteristic of all applications. TextEdit
in
Mac OS X, for example, just keeps searching, as does vi. Other
applications might provide that warning.
