Implementing the callback widgets stuff might be beyond your skill set,
but just getting rid of auto-resizing is another matter.  That can be
done without implementing the callback widgets stuff; the callback
widgets stuff would be made much nicer (as in "possibly further
decreasing the time required to load a capture file") without
auto-resizing.
