Considering what routers sometimes do to networks, perhaps that *is* the
right pronunciation....

(BTW, the page at

says that the US plumbing and drain-cleaning service "Roto-Rooter" -
*not* pronounced "r-out-er" - has a franchise operation in Australia,
probably to the great amusement of the Australian population, unless
they chose a different pronunciation Down Under....)
