Hi,
Observations while building ethereal-0.9.0 on Windows 2000.
The code was extracted from the source tar file ethereal-0.9.0.tar.gz on
Windows 2000. The config.nmake was modified as per the build
environment.
Tried building ethereal ... the build broke stating "bison" not found.
Found that the build was trying to create ascend-grammar.[ch] file from
ascend-grammar.y file.
However the ascend-grammar.[ch] file does exist and the build should not
attempt to recreate ascend-grammar.[ch]
Found that ascend-grammar.h in the tar ball is of an earlier date than
ascend-grammar.y, which is the reason why the build attempts to recreate
ascend-grammar.[ch]. Note: The build environment does not have
bison.exe.
By changing the timestamp of ascend-grammar.h the build went thru
successfully.
I would like to know if corrective action will be taken on this OR will
it be required to have the respective tools in the Windows environment
for a build of ethereal-0.9.0.tar.gz (besides the above work around).
Thanks.
Sandhya
