Hello list,
Any thoughts on whether a dissector (say, ISUP) should be able to know
the preferences settings of another dissector (say, MTP3)? There
doesn't seem to be any mechanism (short of making the preference
variable in MTP3 non-static and extern'ing it from ISUP, which I imagine
won't fly) to do this.
The reason I ask is that users of MTP3 (e.g., ISUP, SCCP, TUP) will
(almost?) always be of the same standard (e.g., ITU vs. ANSI vs. the
others) as the MTP3 dissector (admittedly it is possible to put a TCAP
of one standard over an SCCP of another standard, but...). It would
make a lot more (IMO) sense to be able to just set the standard once at
MTP3 then to have the same preference window for MTP3, ISUP, SCCP,
etc...
Regards,
-Jeff
