I just tried to compile Ethereal 0.8.4 with Cygwin B20. So far I have been able to
run ./configure up to the glib stuff witht the following instructions:
> cd $ETHEREAL_DIR
Edit ./configure to comment-out the following:
# Make sure we can run config.sub.
if ${CONFIG_SHELL-/bin/sh} $ac_config_sub sun4 >/dev/null 2>&1; then :
else { echo "configure: error: can not run $ac_config_sub" 1>&2; exit 1; }
fi
> sh configure --host=win32
I am successful up to the check for glib-config, as it is not there in the files
I have. This might be obvious (it's not the Linux version), but the configure
script explicitly checks for it. I have also seen that it wants to compilke a
sample application. That won't work either I think. Maybe the script
should check for the correct libs, dlls and such....
checking for glib-config... no
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found
*** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to glib-config.
configure: error: GLib distribution not found.
