Ethereal-dev: [ethereal-dev] "Line-mode" derivative of Ethereal (like tcpdump and snoop)

With various changes made to isolate the GUI code from the packet-dissection code, it's now possible to make a "line-mode" packet capture and analysis program, working like "tcpdump" or Sun's "snoop", based on an initial version Gilbert did a while ago. To do a live capture, with packet summary lines printed as the packets arrive, do tethereal -i <interface> To get the protocol tree printed as the packets arrive (may not be useful, but "snoop" *does* support it), do tethereal -V -i <interface> ("-v" prints a version message, just as it does in Ethereal). To capture packets and save them to a file, do tethereal -i <interface> -w <file> To read a capture from a file and print packet summary lines, do tethereal -r <file> To read a capture from a file and print the protocol tree, do tethereal -V -r <file> As with Ethereal: "-h" prints a help message; "-c <count>" limits the capture to the specified number of packets; "-f <capture filter>" captures with the specified capture filter; "-n" disables name lookup; "-R <display filter>", when reading a file, shows only packets that match the specified display filter; "-t [r|a|d]" changes the time stamp format. I've attached a patch to "Makefile.am", and the source file "tethereal.c". Suggestions for better names will be accepted....
